EV Chargers
What is an EV charger
An electric car charger is a piece of equipment that must be installed in your garage or driveway and connected to a wall. EVs, like mobile phones, the car must be charged in order to have enough power to complete a journey. Its job is to recharge the battery in order to keep the vehicle moving. An EV charger draws an electric current from an outlet or the grid to which it is hardwired and delivers it to the vehicle. There are various levels of EV chargers that determine how quickly your unit will charge your vehicle; please see below for more information on the levels.
How long does it take an EV to charge?
The time it takes to charge your vehicle is determined by the type of charging point you use. A level 1 charger charges your car slowly, at a rate of 2 to 5 miles per hour; these are typically the cheapest options. A level 2 charger can charge up to 15 times faster than a level 1 charger, charging at speeds ranging from 13 to 75 miles per hour. They are more efficient and simple to use, making them ideal for home charging. Finally, there is a DC level 3 charger that can charge your car up to 80% in 10 - 30 minutes. This is the fastest charging option currently available, but it is not compatible with all EV chargers.
Charging while at work or on the go
As electric vehicles become more popular, the world must keep up. It is becoming more common for offices to instal EV chargers so that their employees can charge their vehicles while at work. If you're driving across the country, you'll be able to stop at a service station and charge your car while taking a break. This means you can go anywhere without worrying about running out of power!
Why electric?
Electric vehicles are the way of the future; a significant portion of the population has already made the switch, and it is only a matter of time before they become the most popular mode of transportation. To tackle global warming, the government aims for everyone to drive an electric vehicle. When running, electric vehicles emit zero emissions. Rather than having to travel to a petrol station, electric vehicles can be charged right in your driveway. One significant advantage of going electric is that you will not have to pay any road tax.
